English Language Challenges

Learning a language is always a hard task to accomplish; this requires a lot of practice and dedication to learn the different types of grammar rules and the pronunciation of the wide amount of words.

During the course of time some languages have been more “important” than others, in our current time the more relevant language is English, for this reason in the university we have English classes, because today all the scientific discoveries are written in English.

During the time I have in these English courses we have the opportunity to make different types of exercises, to improve our English, like blogs, classes, some games, among other things. I can say they were nice. 

During the course we blogs to practice our grammar and capability to think and write about different topics, I think they are useful, they complete they purpose 

What aspects of my English I need to improve? I think definitely my pronunciation, to be honest I’m not so sure how to improve it, I don’t have many opportunities to practice it, or someone to practice with, but I try to hear different things in English, for example when I play a video game, I put it in English, first because i like more the  voice acting on English more than in Spanish, and so hear the pronunciation of different words. 

Currently outside the English class I use my English a lot, for example to study about different things or to make some works for the university, because there is more information available in English than in Spanish, and in video games when I need to type something on chat or understand the story of it.

Changes To My Study Programme

Education institutes during the course of years try always to innovate in the study programs, upgrading them according to the needs, new technology available and new discoveries that change some understandings about different things.
In my current career, which is pharmacy, we got a new study plan a few years ago; I can’t compare them because this is my first year in the career, but I can say that I think the current one is well organized, we see a lot of things related whit what we may be doing in the future. I think the workload In the current program is fine, but maybe the length of the career is a bit long, but I understand that in this career you have to know about a lot of things.
The university lacks about different things, for example the classrooms could have less broken chairs, and we can have a bigger library
Technology in almost every career is very important, it allows you to access to the new information available in the internet for example, and of course without technology, we couldn’t be able to progress in our understandings about this world.
In our current educational system (and probably a lot of years before the current system), the university works just like the school, you came to classes, you take note of some things, you memorize them, and then you have a test, so I believe that the teaching methods in the university are the same utilized in the school.

Addiction: From Tea and Coffee to Drugs of Abuse

Since ancient history mankind has use different types of drugs for diverse purposes, one of these drugs is the caffeine, the caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant wide world used and commercialized.
As for myself, like almost any person, I have tried a drug of abuse, and as you can imagine is the caffeine, I have to say that I take daily a cup of coffee, and for my experience, is good it helps a lot to wake up in the morning.
The caffeine for being a central system stimulant, will reduce fatigue and drowsiness, improving reaction time, wakefulness, and concentration (among others) being this some of the observable effects on a caffeine user.
Caffeine like any drug of abuse has some positive aspects and others negatives ones, for the beneficial aspects it can treat and prevent some diseases, like the apnea of prematurity, in fact caffeine is consider an essential medicine according to the “WHO”, but still has some negative aspects, for example caffeine can produce drug dependence, producing some withdraw symptoms such as sleepiness, headache and irritability.
Caffeine can produce some side effects, since physical effects to psychological ones, some example of physical effects are, increasing blood pressure causing vasoconstriction, increase the basal metabolic rate, and affect gastric acid secretion, on the other hand some psychological effects are insomnia, jitteriness, and other anxiety disorders. Aside this caffeine can be lethal over 10 grams per day for an adult, which are roughly 50–100 ordinary cups of coffee.
Now you may ask if a know some addicted to a drug of abuse, and I think is quite obvious, I think is hard to find someone who doesn’t use any type of drug, but in any case in my family I’m not the only one who use a lot of caffeine, my dad for example takes a lot more cups of coffee than me (like 3-4 cups per day).
I think drugs of abuse are very present is society, and for this many individuals are under the effect of any of them, as for my career (pharmacy), I believe that some of them obviously has some very negative effects to the professionals, like the hard drugs, or alcohol, but “safe” drugs like caffeine, I don’t see the problem of using them (I don’t say this because I use it ok?), of course in normal doses.

Post Graduate Studies

In our current time get a higher specialization has become an important aid, because in the current era, going to the university has something within the reach of more people, comparing to the old eras, when just a few privilege people can assist to the university, meaning this that in a globalized world, you need to have a bigger knowledge and highlight before other to get a better job, for this main reason I would take a post graduate course.

Currently if you ask me which subject or course I would like to take it would be the diploma of “clinical pharmacy”, because I like the idea of working directly whit a group of health professionals into a common goal, try to give to the patient the best life option before his disease or accident, but if we speak of a higher post grade title, like a Ph.D. I think I would like to course the “pharmacology”, study the course of action that medicine they exercise in the body.

If I have the possibility to make the course abroad in a good university I would gladly accept, but making the course is Chile is something I wouldn’t mind at all.

The form of how I would like to study it would be a part time course, because I think this way, I would have time for a job in the meantime while the course last and other activities, besides I think that classroom allow you to have a more interactive session than have a class though internet, and perhaps taking a blended system and take a part of the course in another country it may be a bit expensive.

Your Future Job

In our current civilization having a job is essential to get some money and a wide amount of things, since bread to a house.

The job i would like to have once I graduate from the university is becoming the emperor of the word (Cleary a full time job). Ok now seriously, a job related to what I’m currently studying (pharmacy), I would like to work en clinical pharmacy, I imagine it like a though job but a fundamental one.

 

In whatever job I get in the future i would prefer an indoor job, mainly because of what I said before. 

If in my job i get the opportunity to travel a lot, I think I would like it, because you can, well of course see new places and cultures, but because since is a job travel you can learn new thinks about what you are doing.

If we speak the salary i think i would like to get enough to buy 7 Ferrari’s and 10 manors, ok, i don’t know but for sure a salary that allow me to live in proper conditions whit certain privileges.

currently I’m thinking to take the clinical pharmacy major (if this is a major, sorry but i have no idea if this is or not) because in this job you play a fundamental role to maintain people alive, it may be a bit rough, still I think this is what I like.

Old and New Hobbies: From Collecting Stamps to Mountain Climbing

Hobbies are an essential part of our life, they are meant to be something we enjoy doing in our free time. One of my favorites hobbies are playing video games alongside whit reading books, there is not much to say here, maybe that I enjoy a lot of genres of games and books.
I have these hobbies for a long time, maybe since I have 12 years old; I grab the taste of reading some books and expend some time playing video games. But why, well every hobby is meant to be something you enjoy personally I have some enjoyable time doing these two things I mentioned before, and that is just enough for me to consider them important (for me).
When I was a child I used to collect different things, like tickets from the bus, or bouncing balls.
Now, there´s is a few hobbies that I think I would never do, like taking pictures, or painting, don´t get me wrong, those can be the marvelous hobbies for someone else and that´s amazing, but I don’t enjoy them, maybe cause my artistic skills sucks and I see making painting more as a challenge than a past time.
Being honest I can’t think in some hobbies I will have in some years, at least for now I´m very happy whit the ones I currently do.

Our Amazing Human Body

the human body is full of amazing system, each one of them whit a unique role to carry out, some of them are vital for our existence like the nervous system or the circulatory system, among others, I will talk about the circulatory system, specifically about the heart, because this one is one of the most important systems in the body, without the heart no other organ can function.

The heart is the core of this system, he oversees bump blood though the body, blood provides the body whit oxygen and nutrients, while removing metabolic wastes, without it non-organ can work properly and perish in a very brief time.  The heart in humans in the middle compartment of the chest, the heart is typically the size of a fist: 12 cm in length, 8 cm in wide and 6 cm in in thickness.

Sadly the heart can have a lot of diseases, some of them are Coronary artery disease, in which  the inner walls of the arteries  narrows reducing the blood flow to the heart . Another one is Heart failure, in this one the heart can't beat out enough blood to meet the needs of the body.
Hearth diseases are the most common cause of death in the world, many of them caused for unhealthy habits like a poor diet, smoking, among other, for this reason a balanced diet and exercise can help a lot you are keeping your heart healthy.

The Best Holidays/Concert Ever

For the last years dreaming about traveling and discovering unfamiliar places is something very marked in our life style, sometimes we manage to accomplish this dream travelling to that places for holidays.

A couple of years ago, my family and I go to the Eastern island, a mystic place full of awesome views and places to enjoy. The island is in the Polynesian triangle and a part of Chile, it was this summer (2017), we just stay there for a week, but we enjoy a lot that week, there we saw many places, starting with the Moais, we travel caves, some historical places, the beaches, the outstanding volcanoes, among other things. There we share whit the islanders and learn some things about they culture.

but why it has been my best holiday? well because it was something different, we frequently go on holidays to a city or a beach like Temuco or Punta de Choros, but that time it was different, of course, I enjoy our holidays, the important thing is being together, but like I say this was distinct, I really enjoy the island and the activities we do there. 

A Country You Would Like To Visit

Since the moderns times whit all the technological enhancements, mankind has begun dreaming about traveling to different places for a wide amount of reasons, since for pure pleasure to start a new life. Personally i would like to travel Italy, this country have a lot of history, well like every European country, but during centuries Italy was the great power of Europe, specifically, the roman empire, the Romans archive great things leaving a lot of amazing achievements behind when they fall, luckily some of they endures today, like the great roman coliseum.

As i said before in Italy born an important piece of our culture, thanks to the incredible deeds of the roman empire, from they we inherit a lot of tongues like french, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, among others, Rome was and is the current center of the catholic church (specifically in the Vatican), besides Italy was the crib of many artistic movements like the Renaissance, all of this together gives me reasons to want to travel to this county and see for myself all the amazing things Italy have.

It may be quite obvious i would really like to see some of the amazing architecture pieces Rome have, like the coliseum, the St Peter´s basilica, the  castles from different Romans emperors, see the Vatican, in general terms, see the different places Italy has to offer. definitely i would like to live there, the lovely climate, the amazing places, the extensive culture, of course every place have their charm and they bad things but if i have the opportunity one day of live there i will take it.

Your blogging experience

in the past of years mankind have seen how technology progress, in the middle ages we communicate through letters, and we acquire knowledge in the books we read, then with the past of ages we develop different ways to communicate whit each other like the phone, during the last decades humanity invented the internet, a new way to communicate whit everyone from everywhere, and let us acquire information about anything, also know we can share our feeling to other through this invention. An example of this is the blogs we wrote during this past of months.

During this time of classes we have made a lot of blogs about different topics some of them i enjoy it, but some of them i really don’t. In general terms i have to say that this blogs were helpful, they allow us to know how the otter things and fell about certain things. but i have to say that i feel like this blogs didn’t help a lot to our writing skills, why?, simple just because, we don’t have feedback about what we wrote is correct in terms of grammar, yet it allow us to improve our capability of think about different topics and star writing about them. 

As i say before i feel like we are writing in the air, is for this reason that i would like to include this "feedback" like i say, yet is true that this can be hard for the teachers to do this, considering the amount of students they have to attend. Still it would be nice to have this.

we could speak about so different things about infinite subjects, but i would really like to write more about things like the past blog "  From the invisible to the visible world and back..." and less about topics like "The most enjoyable subject ..." blog,                                                                                                                          

From the invisible to the visible world and back...

During the existence of humanity has begun a search to know how everything works, since a macroscopic way like the universe to a microscopic way like the atoms, and it’s about this last theme what i'm going to talk about, during the past years technology have let the mankind to learn about how the microparticles work and  make some materials with it, like gold nanoparticles, they are very important in my field because they can be used like therapeutic, what does this mean, gold nanoparticles can be used to transport drugs into the body,  what is of course a very important application in pharmacy.

I chose this material because of the revolution this practice could cause in modern medicine, since a single dosis of these nanoparticles could mean the difference between life and death for a patient. This is a work in progress, but it is thought that gold nanoparticles could be used for chemotherapy with much more efficiency than the current methods without the hassle and pain of normal cancer therapy.

in a near future this particle present an important role in cancer treatment. most studies of gold nanoparticle-based cancer therapy have used photothermal therapy for the destruction of cancer cells or tumor tissue, which may be potentially useful in the clinical setting. When irradiated with focused laser pulses of suitable wavelength, targeted gold nanospheres, nanorods, nanoshells, and nanocages can kill bacteria and cancer cells

gold particles has a significant impact in modern medicine, since it allows to deliver significance drugs into they cure cancer and aids, gold nanoparticles does not present any obvious disadvantage, in the other hand gold nanoparticles have a lot of advantages because they are stable in aqueous media and requires no handling or storage for up to many months, and they reduce toxic chemotherapy effects. though is In process of improvement

The most enjoyable subject ...

in the university we have practical subjects and theoretical ones, but the subjects I enjoy the most is calculus introduction and chemistry, (sorry teacher but is not English), both are theoretical classes, in calculus we solve a lot of mathematical problems and in chemistry we learn about a lot of thigs since balance an equations to how electrons works, i like calculus because the teacher manage to create a good atmosphere in which you enjoy the class, on the other hand i like chemistry because i can learn about a lot of things and how they work, both classes are composed just by the teachers and us. why they are important in the career i study? (pharmacy), first math is the core sciences, the mother of they, without math we can’t have all the other sciences, and of course chemistry is essentially in the career so is extremely important. in math, we are approximately 50 and in chemistry we are like 100, in math the main themes we already seen are, logarithms, functions among others, meanwhile in chemistry we have saw redox equations, atomic theory beside other things.

My favourite book and film

during my childhood I barely read books, I started read books for hobby when i was a teenager.

one of my favorite book is Atlas Shrugged which I read 3 years ago, talk about a dystopian United States where the weight of interventionism is increasing, leading the country to its destruction, slowly and inexorably. In this context, the classes of characters are faced: entrepreneurs, professionals and artists who are not willing to see how others take over their work, and looters, entrepreneurs, politicians and officials who, Altruism seek just the opposite. if you like science fiction and philosophy you should read this novel,

On the hand one of my favorite movies is the butterfly effect, this movie talk about a popular hypothetical example of chaos theory which illustrate how small initial differences may lead to large unforeseen consequences over time, in this movie the protagonist can travel through time by means of memories and images, but every time he changes something some bigger disaster occurs. i really recommend this movie for people who like fiction theme movies.

A photograph you like

The way we take pictures changed a lot during the past of time, when I was a child my mom had a camera whit photographic roll, and if we wanted to see the pictures taken we should go and reveal the photos, now thanks to the technology we have the image without the need of reveal those pictures, is thanks to this technology that we are able to remember moments from the past in a matter of seconds.

One of my favorite pictures is one of my dog, it was taken by me on my home when my dog had 3 months, it shows how my dog steals my mother's slipper and started eating it on our living room, I like this picture because its reminds me a funny Moment, just imagine a puppy running away just to enjoy his trophy, also I saw how a dog picture caught the attention on an amazing post , so I decided to give it a try.

Music in my life

in my everyday i use music almost for everyhitng, like walking listening something or when i study, i like almost any kind of music, but the kind of music i like the most is rock, pop,alternative music and instrumetal music like an orchesta , maybe cause i born in a house surrounded by it, my mother put music in the house since i have memory, and a wide specther of music, just like my stepfather.
i really like the piano, i think its a beatiful instrument and you can make amazing masterpieces whit it, but i never lear no play it, in my family the only one that play a intrument very well is my stepfather, who play the drums since he was a child. at today my favourite bands are Paramore, Marron 5, red hot chili peppers, among others
my preferences from when i was a child didint change so drasticaly maybe just listening more from a genre that other, for example when i was a child i used to hear more rock music, now i hear less but i still like it. but as i said in the beginning i like almost any kind, almost, i never like a reggeton song or rap ones, and today i still dont like it. the music in films are very important, whit the music you can make your audience inmerce in the storyline of the films, example of this are star wars, who didit recognize the music when darth vader appears

Your favorite piece of technology

In this century we have been Surrounded by a lot of technological devices all of them designed to make our lifes easier, since tvs, cellphones, washing machines, etc. but there is one of this devices that is my favorite definitely is the computer, why? simple, i can do anything whit a computer, since play music, play some video games, talk whit some friends or solve a mathematical problem. and perhaps you can say that a smartphone can do the same, and yes it can that is the idea make the cellphones to evolve an do the job of the computer, but the computer still have more functions than a smartphone. like as i said before play a video game or some programs that are not available in a cellphone.

My first computer i got it when i have 10 it was a desktop computer, i used to play a lot of bioshock and age of mythology when i get it and to get information about things of my interest or for the school. whit the past of time computer change their component whit some more advanced ones, their size and weight, and the capacity to realize more tasks compared to the last century and the beginning of this.


Today i don`t change how i use my computer, i still used to entertainment and for get information of what i need or what i want to know, i really used a lot, everyday and a lot of hours, i cant think of a life without computers, i basically used for all i need.

I want to see how technology continues progressing, maybe one day our current devices will be obsolete compare whit the new ones

Why did i choose this carrer?

Hello everybody, welcome to my second post. today i will speak about how i end choosing pharmacy.

since i was a child i always want to have a job related to health, like medicine, veterinary or odontology, i always like the health and science. for this same reason i always participate in science fair realized by the school but never whit a clear career in mind. then when i was 15 i decide to become an odontologist thinking that this one will fill the dream i always have. been an health professional, then when i graduated i still have this idea, come the PSU an i don´t get the score i need to odontology so i decide do the test again. but during that new preparation year i found a new career that i never have in mind, chemistry and pharmacy, when i found it i feel i love whit it, i started searching about it, talking whit other pharmacists, and i decide that this i definitely the career i want. come the day and i make the test again, i got the score i need, and i started studying this fascinating career in the University of Chile, cause i really like this university, health and science in a perfect mix for me. so i didn´t regret don´t get the score for odontology that first try, i´m grateful, cause i have the opportunity to find my new dream career.

Getting to know each other...

Greetings to everyone, I´m Vicente Pérez P. the first of two brothers. i born in Santiago,Chile but my mother came from Valdivia, Chile and my father from Temuco, Chile, they move to Santiago looking for better job opportunities and know each other in their workplace and got married. Both are audiovisual comunicator, and my little brother are still in school, in the house we have one dog called Maco, is a Labrador


I studied in the Alcantara de la cordillera School located in La Florida all my school stage,then i go to the University of Chile and started studying pharmacy this year (2017) as my first option, because i really like the role that this career have in the society.


In my free time i enjoy playing video games, handball and reading a quite often
